Power the Future: Solar Model Car Challenge presented by Bell

The Cornwall Carbon Reduction Initiative, along with our community partners, Bell and TD Friends of the Environment, is pleased to present Power the Future: Solar Model Car Challenge.

Power the Future participant and judgeOn May 23, 2008, nine schools from Cornwall and area participated in the Power the Future Solar Model Car Challenge. A team of ten students from each school designed, built, and raced their solar powered cars for a panel of volunteer judges. For the Challenge, students researched solar power technology and worked as a team to develop their own innovative and efficient designs. Students also made presentations to the judges and the audience, demonstrating their knowledge about renewable energy sources and the latest green technologies.

The CCRI wishes to thank the generous contributions of Bell Alliant, TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, St. Lawrence College, the St. Lawrence River Institute of Environmental Sciences, Professional Engineers Ontario - Upper Canada Chapter, Resource Stewardship of SD&G, and ROCK 101.9. Without such amazing community support, the Power the Future event would not have been possible.
