Climate Awareness Project (CAP) for Youth
Teacher's Resources
The following are a list of some valuable websites related to the environment in general, and some on climate change issues specifically.
Environment
EcoVoyageurs
- This Canadian website describes your Eco-Footprint, global impacts, and how you can help better the environment around you and preserve valuable finite resources. Teacher's resources include downloads, and eco-fooprint ideas for your school. Eco-Voyageurs also produces an online monthly newsletter, which could be an interesting addition to your classroom learning environment!
Green Street
- Through Green Street you can access high quality education programs and funding opportunities; you can find out what schools and community partners are doing across the country to support environmental sustainability and student engagement; and you can connect to a learning community and join with others in building a movement for change. Working with Program Partners, Green Street links you to a learning community of people who are taking action for the environment and social justice, in and with schools across Canada.
Resources for Re-thinking
- Resources for Rethinking (R4R) provides teachers access to materials that integrate ecological, social and economic spheres through active, relevant, interdisciplinary learning. We call this learning Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). ESD promotes respect for universal human rights, cultural diversity, greater care of life and the protection of Earth's ecosystems, and a commitment to build a global culture of tolerance and peace. As a teacher, you can search for resources by province, grade, subject, theme, organization and title. With all of these tools available, it's likely you'll find something to help you in whatever environmental studies you're undertaking with your class!
Climate Change
Climate Change North
- Climate Change North is an educational website created for northerners by northerners. It's about understanding how climate change affects us, and what we can do about it. Materials cover all subject areas for learners K-12. Developed for Yukon, NWT and Nunavut. Website includes: backgrounders; lesson plans; curriculum links; resources; student exchange; and a glossary. This website is Canadian.
Environment Canada - Climate Change
- This website offers multimedia information on Climate Change news, science and impacts, FAQ, and resources to take action in your community.
